A YOUNG WOMAN’S VLOG HIDES A DARK SECRET IN A NEW ONLINE SERIES…

Teenager Imo gets a new camera and sets herself the goal of uploading a new video to her online channel every day. It all seems simple enough at first – filming her embarrassed mum, her friends at school and her new fitness kick. But behind all the lively pep and enthusiasm, there’s a strange and sinister presence in some of her footage…

“As we go through the series, we see that it deals with anorexia and mental health issues,” explains Michelle Fox, who plays Imo. “I would say she is really innocent and kind of naive. But when this mental health issue takes over her life, it kind of changes her from very happy-golucky to very traumatised and terrified, and she has to find a way

out of the hole that she has fallen into.”

The series – all eight 10-minute episodes of which will be available on Sunday – is completely shot in the style of a vlog and intended to look as natural as possible, but filming it was often anything but…

“Our director of photography, Alex, and I worked closely together,” reveals Michelle. “When Imo walks around, the ‘camera’ looks as if it’s in her hand, but it’s actually a normal TV camera being held by Alex. So something that looks as simple as Imo filming herself as she’s walking up the stairs after getting a glass of water is actually Alex filming it while walking backwards!”
