“Toadie isn’t complete without Sonya – they’re the perfect couple!”
RAMSAY STREET’S RYAN MOLONEY AND EVE MOREY ARE PRAYING THEIR CHARACTERS CAN FIX THEIR SHATTERED MARRIAGE…
It’s been a rough year for the Rebecchis, but they seemed to be getting their relationship back on track recently, thanks to the work they’ve been doing in marriage counselling. So imagine Toadie’s horror this week when he discovers that his therapist, Sam, is actually a former flame of his wife!
It’s certainly a shock when he finds Sonya and Sam looking cosy together by Lassiters Lake, and it could be yet another big bump in the road for his relationship. But we think it’s about time Toadie and Sonya got back together – so we grabbed Neighbours stars Ryan Moloney and Eve Morey for a frank chat about their characters’ marriage…
We can’t believe another blast from the past is rocking the Rebecchis! Is Sam a threat to Toadie and Sonya?
Ryan Toadie absolutely thinks so! Sam has a history with Sonya and he is a deep thinker, which Toadie isn’t. He feels that Sam may be able to offer Sonya the emotional support that she needs – that’s never been Toadie’s strong point.
Eve I don’t really see it that way – Sonya isn’t in that headspace. She knows she wants to be with Toadie, but at the same time, she’s incredibly excited to run into Sam. She hasn’t seen him for over 10 years, and she has such fond memories of him.
Their friendship was really important to her.
Ryan, Toadie has been having counselling sessions with Sam, unaware of his connection to Sonya. What advice is Sam giving him?
Ryan I wouldn’t say that Sam’s advice is harsh, but he does make Toadie question the future of his marriage. It’s not just about patching things up. Sam tells Toadie to take his time before reuniting with Sonya, which makes sense at the time.
So that must make it worse for him when he finds out about Sam and Sonya’s connection…
Ryan Oh yeah, he feels betrayed by both of them, but more so by Sam. Toadie feels violated, and worried that his confidence has been breached. He wonders if Sam knew Sonya was his wife all along.
Inside Soap is really rooting for the Rebecchis to get back together! Is that how you guys feel as well?
Ryan Oh yeah, that’s where they both belong. Toadie isn’t complete without Sonya. I know I sound like a Tom Cruise romcom, but it’s true. I think they’re the perfect couple!
There could be more trouble on the horizon, though, as we saw a scene recently with Andrea… or maybe it was the real Dee!
Eve I’ve always maintained that if Andrea comes back, Toadie isn’t going to be fooled – not on my watch, anyway! And if actual Dee was back, I trust she’d be as wonderful as everyone says, and would want what’s best for Toadie – which is being with Sonya.
I hope neither Andrea nor Dee comes back – I need a rest! RYAN

You should get one soon, Ryan, because Eve is off on maternity leave at the end of the year…
Ryan I know, and she is so organised that she’s timed the arrival of her second bub to coincide with our long end-of-year break! I’ll certainly miss Eve while she’s not on set, but we’ll still see each other socially.
And Eve, will you be tuning in to keep an eye on Toadie while you’re off?
Eve I’ve already booked in to see the script supervisor so I’ll know what’s happening while I’m away. But I’ll probably still tune in, just to make sure there are no other people from the past lurking in the background!
