But soon her quest for vengeance literally explodes, leaving one of the barns engulfed in flames – and the inferno is just the beginning, as Emma’s deadly rampage kick-starts a dramatic week guaranteed to change the Dales forever. And at least one person won’t live to tell the tale…
Crazed Emma has spent the past year obsessing over hiding the truth about
James’ murder, and committing many heartless acts in order to ensure the secret is kept safe from her grief-stricken sons. While she has successfully thwarted suspicion time and time again, she knows her culpability in her fiancé’s death is on the brink of being unveiled – especially now the memory card containing Ashley’s videos has resurfaced.
We all know Emma never does things by halves, so with her freedom at stake, she decides it’s time to strike back and pay an unexpected visit to Moira at the farm.
“Emma blames Moira for everything and wants to make her answer for what Emma feels she’s done,” explains Gillian Kearney, who plays her. “She’s angry and bitter, and genuinely believes that if Moira had let go of James, he wouldn’t have been hung up on her, and Emma never would have lost her temper and pushed him off the bridge. She thinks that Moira is responsible for the massive black hole she now has in her life.”
“Emma wants to know if Moira loved James and what they meant to each other,” adds Natalie J Robb, aka Moira. “She’s very persistent and agitated, and then confesses that she pushed James off the bridge! Of course Moira is in disbelief, but then also becomes quite frightened as Emma is clearly really angry.”
Terrified Moira tries to pacify her, but her words have no effect on Emma, who’s determined to make her enemy pay for her supposed crimes. This isn’t the first time the Barton women have come to blows, but it could be the last – after they fight to survive a monstrous blaze!
“As they’re talking, Emma is getting closer,” describes Natalie. “Moira breaks away to escape, but Emma grabs a pitchfork and goes for her! In their tussle, Emma hits a light, which in turn causes a fire. Soon they’re both aware that the barn is burning around them – then an oil drum explodes!”
Although both women are in grave danger, Emma has the upper hand as Moira is trapped under some fallen equipment and has no choice but to beg her nemesis for help. Will Emma leave her to perish in the flames?
“Forget the fire – it’s Emma who is the biggest threat at this point!” laments Natalie. “The barn is full of flammable objects and it’s dangerous, but Emma is a loose cannon. She’s definitely the most frightening thing in the barn, and Moira is terrified she’s going to die.
“I was thrilled to hear I’d be part of this story,” she continues. “The fire is just the beginning. The week gets bigger and bigger, but we’re keeping the rest a secret!”
While it remains to be seen if Moira escapes the barn alive, what we do know is that as the deadly blaze continues to
spread, horrified Adam and Victoria see the flames and rush out to help. But when Adam realises that Emma has escaped, he’s determined to make her pay, and runs after her with a loaded gun!
As the chase intensifies, Adam loses control of his weapon – only for it to find its way into unstable Emma’s hands. And when Emma fires, someone takes a bullet…
We know this week will see the climax of Emma’s story – but after all her misdeeds, will she make it out of the village alive?
“Who knows?” teases Gillian, taking up the story again. “Everything gets very dramatic – and so much happens to her this week!”
