Phelan learns about Nicola’s baby
NICOLA SHARES HER SECRET – AND PHELAN IS HORRIFIED…
Phelan gets the shock of his life this week – when daughter Nicola reveals that she and Gary Windass are having a baby.
The Weatherfield rogue is left speechless when his troubled daughter reveals that she shared a night of passion with his arch-enemy, and is now expecting a child. Nicola is in pieces because she knows that Gary is settled down with Sarah, and she feels terrible about her part in his betrayal of his girlfriend and their family. What Nicola needs from Phelan is some fatherly support – but given his troubled history with the Windass clan, can he hold his temper?
“The only thing that could be worse is if Nicola was having Andy the hostage’s baby!” laughs our Coronation Street sneak. “Gary and Phelan hate each other, and with very good reason. What Phelan did to Gary’s mum Anna was sadistic and evil, then Gary tried to murder Phelan. For Nicola to be in a difficult situation because of Gary is going to make Pat’s blood boil!”
This is not the only fire Phelan is fighting this week, but Nicola’s confession certainly gets his attention. There are mixed emotions because Pat now knows he could soon be a grandfather, and it’s another piece of the family he never thought he’d have. Building a bond with Nicola has brought out the best in Phelan, but he’s got so much to lose if his evil deeds are uncovered.
“The stakes are so high for Phelan,” says our snoop. “He’s already hiding a traumatised hostage in a derelict house, and now he’s got journalist Daniel on his back. The stress of trying to keep them all at bay is giving Pat a real headache, and if any of the plates he’s spinning break, there will be carnage in his life.”
Being furious about Gary isn’t going to help
Nicola, but Phelan is going to struggle to contain his anger at the terrible situation. He’ll demand that Gary pays his way, and will probably want him to admit what he’s done to Sarah and the rest of the Platts. While it would be good for Phelan to see Gary suffer, the truth would also make Nicola public enemy number one, and that kind of stress wouldn’t be good for her or her unborn baby.

Worse still, Pat would have to share grandparent duties with Anna, and there are few people he hates as much as her. The feeling is entirely mutual, and Nicola has no idea of the world of pain they’ll all be in if this child’s true paternity is revealed. Will Pat keep Nicola’s baby secret?
