Alya at Underworld this week – recruiting machinist Beth as her mole.
Determined to get the factory back in the hands of the Connor family, Carla rolls up her sleeves and starts fighting dirty. She knows that Alya’s inexperience and lack of support could be her downfall, and she intends to help her fail faster. But to start meddling in the business again, Carla needs an ally on the inside…
“Beth Tinker would be no one’s first choice for undercover work,” laughs our Corrie sneak. “She’s gobby, hot-tempered and the opposite of subtle. However, she is money-hungry and easy to bribe, and that’s what Carla needs right now.”
Carla can’t risk seeking help from someone who’ll have a conscience and turn on her, so that rules out people like
Fiz, Izzy and Sally. But Beth is struggling for cash and dossing down at Maria’s place right now, so she and Kirk need a roof over their heads. For Carla, that makes things simple – she tells Beth that she’ll repay her by giving them a rent-free home at Aidan’s former flat. It’s easy enough to win over Beth and begin Carla’s campaign to drive Alya into despair.
The first thing that Beth is tasked with doing is to change the number on an order Alya has accepted from a key client, causing her to make the machinists work overtime to achieve the inflated order, and use up reams of expensive fabric. By getting Kirk to distract Alya’s assistant Sarah, Beth has the coast clear to sneak into the office and do what she needs to do.
