Craig falls into Kayla’s trap

Craig falls deeper under Kayla’s spell this week – oblivious to the fact that she is wicked ex-copper Neil Clifton’s daughter!
Since turning up on the cobbles, waitress Kayla has been reeling in Craig and his ex, Bethany, hoping to exact revenge on them for getting her dad sent down. But when her mother Marsha makes an appearance this week, is Kayla’s cover set to be blown wide open?
“Kayla is Neil’s daughter all right – and she’ll go to any lengths necessary to get him released from jail,” confides our Corrie insider. “She blames Bethany and Craig for him being behind bars, and with Neil’s appeal date fast approaching, she intends to dig up as much dirt on them as possible. Craig is playing right into her hands – so the last thing that she needs is her mum ruining everything!”
When Marsha rocks up at her place of work, Kayla is keen to get rid of her mum before she incriminates her. But Marsha soon recognises Craig as the rookie cop who got Neil jailed, and demands to know what Kayla is doing hanging round with him!
As Kayla explains that she’s cosying up to Craig to get information that will help with Neil’s appeal, it’s clear her mum doesn’t approve. But Craig has caught the tail end of their conversation…
Thankfully for Kayla, the only snippet he’s heard is that her dad is in jail – and the news prompts him to open up and admit that his own father is serving time at Her Majesty’s pleasure, too. Kayla lies to Craig that her dad is inside for fraud – and while they bond over their shared experiences, Kayla takes the opportunity to ask Craig to be her boyfriend!
“Craig has fallen for Kayla’s scheming hook, line and sinker,” says our spy. “It’s a little bit embarrassing for a trainee copper to have been taken in by a phoney like this! Poor Craig, he really does believe that Kayla has genuine feelings for him.”
But as Bethany becomes suspicious of Kayla’s motives (see p31), will she unmask the fraudster before it’s too late?
