The Rebecchi marriage suffers another big blow this week – when Sindi arrives on their doorstep with a baby she claims is Toadie’s!
Just as Sonya and Toadie are planning to embark on
IVF treatment, Sindi rocks up on Ramsay Street with the earth-shattering news that Toadie has fathered a child with Andrea. So is this little boy Hugo really a product of his one-night stand with the con woman? Or is this just another scam?
“Naturally, Toadie is incredibly sceptical!” reveals Ryan Moloney, who plays him. “The whole reason he and Sonya are going though IVF is because the chances of him fathering a child are pretty slim. And the fact is that both Sindi and Andrea have lied to the Rebecchis before – so it’s highly unlikely that this is true.”
This bombshell is the last thing Toadie and Sonya need right now. After months of misery at the hands of wicked Andrea, they’re happy again – and in a place where they want to add to their family with a little brother or sister for Nell. But this wasn’t quite what they had in mind…
“Sonya is shocked by the whole thing – she truly believes they’re being taken for a ride again,” explains Ryan. “She thinks this is another instance of Andrea trying to take advantage of Toadie. So Toadie is pretty quick to say that he doesn’t believe what Sindi’s telling them, and that he wants a DNA test.”

of Andrea herself. Whatever happens, someone needs to take care of the child – so will Toadie step up to the plate if the little’un turns out to be his?
“Absolutely – Toadie’s not one to shirk his responsibilities,” reckons Ryan. “It would be incredibly horrible for his relationship with Sonya, this constant reminder that he
had an affair – especially when they’ve worked so hard to move past that. Having a baby around that’s not hers would be devastating. But Toadie would never shy away from being a proper dad.”
It’s been one drama after another for the Rebecchis over the past couple of years. However, while most actors would relish the opportunity to sink their teeth into a meaty plot, Ryan tells us that he just wants a quiet life…
“Who wants to go into work every day and be depressed?” he muses. “I just want to kick back and have a laugh! Luckily, the baby who plays
Hugo is so good
– in the first scene we shot with him, he looked at me and said ‘Dadda’ right on cue! I’ve fallen in love with him.”
