Soap fans will soon have the opportunity to witness soap legends live and up close when a new touring show comes to Odeon Cinemas this autumn.
Soap In The Cinema is an evening filled with chat and soap fun, and features soapies past and present, in a series of special live events. The first shows will have a number of stars – including the Dales’ Chris Chittell (Pollard), former
Corrie pair Sherrie Hewson (Maureen Webster) and Brian Capron (Richard Hillman), and ex-walford duo Sid Owen (Ricky Butcher) and John Altman (Nick Cotton) – discussing their roles and introducing classic clips, as well as bigscreen contributions from a galaxy of soap legends. There’s even the chance to rub shoulders with the actors afterwards, with exclusive VIP tickets available.
The tour is the brainchild of Debbie Arnold – best known as April Branning in
Eastenders, but who has also had roles in Emmerdale, Corrie and Hollyoaks – who will present the first live show.
“When we were all in soaps, 25 million fans would tune in and they’d see us lot as old friends,” she says. “This show is about taking soaps from the sofa to the big screen, and we want the audience to be part of that! We want them to arrive as fans and leave as friends!” The tour of Odeon Cinemas – which is supported by your very own Inside Soap magazine – commences in Manchester on Sunday 14 October at the Great Northern. This is followed by Darlington (28 October), Southampton (11 November) and Brighton (25 November), with more dates all over the country in 2019.
