ALICE LEVINE AND MAYA JAMA HOST A NEW SOCIAL MEDIA REALITY SHOW…

Anyone who’s active on social media knows that it’s a tricky environment to navigate: what information do you reveal about yourself? What makes a good profile picture? Should you pretend to be something you’re not?

This new reality show hosted by Alice Levine and Maya

Jama takes that to the next level, as the contestants interact entirely through a bespoke social media platform called The Circle – and if they’re judged unfavourably by their fellow players, they risk being ‘blocked’ from the game.

“I’m a social media and reality TV addict, so combining the two is pretty much my dream outcome,” grins Maya. “It’s a fascinating social experiment. We’re all on social media – you tend to be the odd one out if you’re not – so it’ll be interesting to see how it plays out. When the players are on a mission to be popular, will they be their real selves or a fake version?”

“It’s about the judgements we make and the versions of ourselves we put forward,” adds Alice. “A lot of reality shows aren’t asking those questions, which is why this one appeals to me. It’ll be fascinating to see how people curate their lives, and how quickly those who think they are master manipulators get rumbled. Whereas people who think, ‘I’m just going to be me’ – as we’ve seen from reality shows in the past – often have the best game plan of all as it’s the easiest thing to maintain…”
