Stay on the line
WALKING BRITAIN’S LOST RAILWAYS
The more we see of this series, the more convinced we become that Rob Bell gets to his destinations faster by walking along the rail lines than we do by catching actual trains. And he never has to worry whether his Super Special Off-peak Return is valid on the 15.46 from Leeds or not. Anyway, tonight Rob’s hiking along the defunct Somerset-and-dorset line, where he’ll be discovering how this particular stretch of land proved financially ruinous to the investors who funded it, and checks out some of the haunting sights that remain, like the grand viaducts that have since been overtaken by nature.
