We’ve done some crazy shoots! Dan Goldsmith, Photographer
Inside Soap’s super-snapper Dan puts us in the picture…
Photographer Dan Goldsmith has taken hundreds of images for Inside Soap over the years. We’ve dreamt up all kinds of ideas for shooting soapies – and Dan never fails to make them look picture perfect. Even when potential disaster looms…
“A few years back, we had to take an actual London bus stop from Wembley to Leeds, for an
Emmerdale shoot,” he recalls. “The day before, we went to load it into the van – only to find it was two inches too big to fit! We managed to get it to the studio eventually, and Amy Walsh [Tracy], Michelle Hardwick [Vanessa], and Gemma Atkinson [Carly Hope] looked great sitting on it!”
When it comes to striking a pose, the stars of soap are professionals, and always go the extra mile for Inside Soap – as does Dan with his work.
“I’ve done so many amazing jobs for you, it’s hard to choose a favourite,” he admits. “I enjoyed the moody snow queen shoot with Hollyoaks’
Lysette Anthony [Marnie] – and I loved last year’s
Saturday Night Fever shoot with the Hollyoaks lot, too. It was brilliant, playing loud disco music, and I got a great Facebook picture of me [see above!].
“I was a bit nervous the first time I shot Barbara Windsor, having grown up watching her on TV for so many years,” adds Dan. “But all those nerves disappeared the moment I met her. She’s so down to earth, and her famous giggle is intoxicating!”
Dan has also been a regular fixture at our annual
Inside Soap Awards party, papping the attendees – so it’s a good thing he never tires of us or his subjects…
“The soap stars are always so friendly and approachable – they’re such great fun to work with,” he grins. “The Inside
Soap team is also brilliant – you’re the daftest bunch of mad fools in the industry, and we’ve done some crazy stuff. So congratulations on making it to 1000 issues – and long may it continue!”
