Handy, then, that Gregg’s back along with Monica Galetti and Marcus Wareing for a new series of Masterchef: The Professionals this week! Let’s find out what’s in store…
What can we expect from this series?
Monica Excitement, drama and exceptional cooking! What makes the Professionals series so exciting is that for these chefs, it’s their trade, and they just want to prove what they can do, how creative they can be, and the extent of their skill set. We expect them to impress! Gregg You will see incredible passion and drive, and more diversity. What’s different about the show this year?
Monica There’s a new test in the quarter-finals this year – Marcus and I select one of our favourite ingredients, and the chefs are challenged to invent a dish centred on it. The skill is to take an ordinary ingredient such as a potato, and make an extraordinary dish that elevates the key ingredient. Marcus I think they were all surprised at how simple it sounded but how complicated it could be! It was fascinating because we would choose an ingredient and, for the chefs, it was a case of working everything out around that and it being the standout flavour.
