Holby City Mo makes her return

TWO FORMER HOLBY FAVOURITES COME RACING TO HER RESCUE…

- Laura-jayne Tyler

Sacha and Fletch call in the cavalry this week, having run out of answers to help Jac. The pair make the uneasy decision to put her life in the hands of Jac’s former nemesis and troubled neurosurgeon, Guy Self (played by John Michie), who is soon joined by heart specialist Mo Effanga. But can they save their former colleague? Chizzy Akudolu (Mo) is quietly confident…

Welcome home, Chizzy! How did it feel slipping back into Mo’s scrubs?

I’ve absolutely loved it. I was constantly smiling on set – even though I was up at 5 o’clock every morning!

Tell us about Mo’s return to the ward…

Fletch needs a cardiothoracic consultant to assist with Jac’s surgery, so Mo comes racing up the motorway. She’s very confident in her work, and knows that she can help save her. It’s not even on Mo’s radar that Jac could die.

Where does Guy fit in?

Mo’s quite surprised when she sees him and even jokes, “He’s not responsible for this, is he?” But when it comes down to it, Guy is the lead surgeon. He wants to save Jac’s life, too.

Mo is sticking around to run Darwin Ward for a bit. What can we expect from her leadership?

Some fun! Poor Nicky was terrified while working under Jac, so the pressure is lifted a little bit with Mo in charge. It’s still business as usual on the ward, but there’s more freedom.

Is Mo still happy with her other half, Mr T?

Yes, she is – and their son Hector is doing fine! Ben [Hull, who played Mr T] and I are still in touch. I absolutely adore him.

You’ve been presenting on Loose Women. Who has been your favourite guest on the show so far?

Oti Mabuse, who is Graeme Swann’s pro partner on Strictly. They were on the other week – we went to Five Guys for a burger after, and Graeme paid. I said, “Okay, you two are officially my favourites”!
