The NAME GAME!
When it comes to having fantastic character names, the Dingles are streets ahead of the rest of soapland. But did you know that there are two specific branches to their unusual monikers? One side of the family has biblical names – started by the founding father of the
Dingles, Abraham.
Since then, we’ve had the likes of
Zachariah (Zak), who had brothers named Shadrach,
Caleb, Ezra and
Albert, and we are familiar with Chastity,
Charity, Cain and Samuel to name but a few. And the tradition has continued as Charity went on to call her sons Noah and Moses, and Cain and Moira christened their son Isaac. Meanwhile, over on the more glamorous side of the family, there are some glitzy Dingles with Hollywood names. We know and love Marlon, who is named after the Godfather star Marlon Brando, and we’ve even met an Elvis and Marilyn Dingle! We’re keeping our fingers crossed that Angelina, Harrison and Idris Dingle will be hitting our screens in the future…
