Attack horror for Matty & Cain!

MOIRA’S SON AND HUSBAND ARE BOTH LEFT IN A TERRIBLE STATE…

- Kate White

There’s horror for the Bartondingle family as 2019 dawns, when both Matty and Cain are attacked by the same vicious group of thugs over New Year. It all kicks off after Matty heads out for the night with some pals and runs into Isaac, a boyfriend from his past. News of Matty’s transition doesn’t go down well with his horrible ex, who reacts angrily. However, worse is to come, as Cain finds out what happened and goes to teach Isaac a lesson.

“Matty is so humiliated by what happens,” explains Ash Palmisciano, who plays him. “Isaac and his mates grab him, strip him and pull his top off. This is the worst thing in the world for Matty – he is so embarrassed of his body and desperate for surgery. Isaac just wants to show that Matty isn’t a guy to prove a point to his mates.”

The horrifying incident has a profound effect on the traumatised fella and he ends up confiding in Cain about what went on. He’s worried about what will happen if he finds himself at the mercy of a gang of thugs and can’t defend himself, so wants Cain to teach him to fight. However, while Matty tries to recover from the psychological impact of Isaac’s actions, Cain goes to deliver some rough justice. After he finds Isaac and his mates, he gets ready to inflict some serious pain, Dingle-style. But as the moment arrives, Cain freezes…

“He’s completely traumatised by Joe and what happened when he punched him,” reveals Jeff Hordley, who plays Cain. “It totally throws him, so he tells Isaac that this is his lucky day and to stay away from Matty. However, the next thing he knows, he’s being dragged along this car park. It’s horrific, Cain is battered – they jump on him like animals.”

Moira is horrified as Cain arrives home beaten half to death, and discovers what her son has been put through too. She wants to call the police, but Cain won’t let her – although the decision is taken out of his hands when Matty summons PC Swirling to Butlers Farm.

“Matty goes to the police, even though Cain tells him not to,” shares Ash. “He doesn’t realise that Cain fears confessing to killing Joe if he has a police interview. So when PC Swirling comes to the house, Cain is on edge as he doesn’t want the authorities sniffing around him.”

It looks as if there is going to be a lot more drama for Cain as the consequences of that ‘killer’ punch are felt by him and the family. Meanwhile, the incident with Isaac sets Matty off down a different path while he looks for ways to build his confidence. What will 2019 hold for both men, and will each of them face their demons and emerge stronger?
