Birthday girl Bernice takes a terrible risk this fortnight, as she attempts to battle the ageing process with a cheapo Botox session from Kerry! Mortified about hitting the big 5-0, Bernice is keen to keep her real age secret from her much younger boyfriend, Dr Liam. But after she buys the Botox online in a bid to save a few quid, Bernice may come to seriously regret it…
“Bernice turns 50 just after Christmas,” explains Samantha Giles, who plays her. “She’s very insecure about it, because she doesn’t think Dr Cavanagh knows her age, and she wants to keep it that way, as he’s a bit younger than her. She’s thinking, ‘I’ve got to hold back the years’!”
Poor Bernice doesn’t have the merriest of Christmases in store, with her beloved salon set to be sold from under her, thanks to her manipulative sister
Nicola’s meddling. Consequently, the feuding siblings are forced to endure a spectacularly awkward Christmas lunch together, meaning Bernice is at a particularly low ebb by the time her birthday comes around.
However, it’s after she witnesses Dr Cavanagh rushing to the aid of Priya, who’s twisted her ankle, that Bernice’s vulnerability really hits home, prompting the big Botox decision. Despite owning her own salon, Bernice goes rogue in purchasing the anti-ageing chemicals and ignoring the potential risks involved.

isn’t going too well, though, and Botox is expensive – so she impulsively buys it over the internet. And all the instructions are in Chinese! Kerry is the only one who knows Bernice’s plans – and her attitude is, ‘Well, everyone has Botox these days’. So they just do it!”
Both Kerry and Bernice are looking suitably uncomfortable as they begin the process. However, when Bernice suffers an allergic reaction to the dangerous chemicals, is she ready for the lifechanging consequences of her actions?
