“Harriet’s Christmas will get a bit complicated!”
As the vicar searches for Dawn, Katherine Dow Blyton – aka Harriet – promises a long-burner…
Hi, Katherine! Will we learn a bit more about Harriet’s past while she tries to find Dawn?
Yeah, definitely! We know that she used to be a police officer, and it’s been hinted that there was a big reason why she turned her back on the force. So we’re about to find out why.
Have you enjoyed learning more about Harriet, too?
The longer your character is in a series, the more details you hear of their backstory – and that’s exciting. It’s relevant too, as similar stories have been in the press the past few years. It’s been great so far, but it’ll be a long-burner – so Harriet will be facing a challenging new year!
How do you think viewers will react to the revelations?
I hope they’ll find it interesting! They’ll be learning more about Dawn, too. She’s a very complex character who we’ve only seen one side of so far, and I’m having lots of fun working with Olivia Bromley, who plays her.
It sounds as if Harriet has a tricky Christmas in store?
It does get a bit complicated! She’ll have to carry on with her usual vicar duties while this can of worms is opened. She has to face the guilt of things that happened in the past, and there’s a pull between her faith and things she wasn’t quite so honest about years ago…
What will your own day be like?
I think there’ll be more alcohol in my Christmas Day! Me and my boyfriend and my dog Dexter will be spending it with friends. It’ll be very laid back. And Dexter likes to dress up at Christmas!
Do you have fond childhood memories of Christmas?
Oh yes! We used to have fabulous family Christmases. One year, I came downstairs to find a note from Santa with sooty fingerprints on it, explaining my present was in the garden.
I went out in the snow and there was a big green swing!
