STEVE AND TRACY OFFER TO ADOPT THEIR GRANDCHILD…
Steve hits on the perfect plan to help his pregnant daughter Amy cope with her baby bombshell this week
– he and Tracy can formally adopt their grandchild.
Now that the massive shock of finding out that their 14-year-old is expecting is wearing off, both Steve and Tracy are desperate to help Amy make the right decision. So when Steve comes up with the plan to adopt the baby, how will Amy react?
“It’s been a roller coaster of emotions for them all – this wasn’t supposed to happen!” says our Weatherfield snitch. “Amy surprised everyone by saying she wanted to continue with the pregnancy, and they want to respect her choice. But the reality of a schoolgirl bringing up a baby is sobering, to say the least. Steve thinks he and Tracy must take over.”
Despite sometimes being found wanting in the parenting department, Tracy and Steve are really stepping up for their kid now she’s facing a crisis. She’s overwhelmed when her dad tells her that if she wants to cancel the termination appointment and look at other options, he’ll stand by her.
It’s music to Amy’s ears, because she’s very conflicted about what’s right for her and the baby, and she needs some time to consider what to do.
“It’s a very frightening and confusing situation for a girl of Amy’s age,” laments our source. “And that’s before we consider the dad’s reaction!”

Meanwhile, Tracy is taken aback when Steve shares his adoption thoughts with her – but quickly gets on board. Are they making a big mistake?
“Steve and Tracy have the experience and can handle looking after a baby,” admits our insider. “His son Ollie is only a toddler after all. It could work well for them, but Steve maybe hasn’t considered how tough it would be for Amy to watch her parents bring up her child – and what emotional turmoil that might cause her.
“When Liz finds out, she’s fast to warn Steve and Tracy that this plan isn’t perhaps as foolproof as they think.”
Amy is shocked as her mum and dad sit her down in order to discuss their plan, and there are some serious legal ramifications to consider too. Then there’s the father to worry about, and what spanners he could throw into the works if he finds out what the plan is.
One thing’s for sure, the Mcdonalds have a big baby problem on their hands – and attempting to find the best way forward for everyone is not going to be easy…
