Alfie reveals he’s moving away
Richard Linnell tells us about Alfie’s exciting opportunity Stateside…
It’s a big week for Alfie, as he and girlfriend Yasmine prepare to break the news to their parents that they’re moving to Washington! But will their families really let them leave? Richard Linnell ponders Alfie’s difficult decision…
How does Alfie feel about the internship he’s been offered in the States?
It’s an amazing opportunity for him – it’s the chance of a lifetime, and it’s what he’s wanted to do for years. He’s desperate to make scientific breakthroughs, but then he has this situation where he’s leaving his family behind.
How does he break the news?
He settles on James as a good person to tell – but every time Alfie tries to talk to him, James is busy. Then Romeo overhears Alfie practising the discussion he wants to have with James, and soon becomes certain that Alfie must be relapsing, and hearing voices in his head again!
Yikes! So what happens next?
His family calls an intervention to say that they can help him! Alfie’s like, “What on earth are you talking about? I’m moving to America!” So it comes out in the worst possible way, but everyone is happy for him.
Everyone apart from Mac…
Yes, Mac begins manipulating Alfie to try to get him to stay, because as part of his nefarious plan, it’s useful to have Alfie on his side. He pulls every trick in the book – he keeps bringing up Jade, and manages to drive a wedge between Alfie and Yazz. Alfie becomes conflicted.
Would you like Alfie go to the US?
Seeing the world is what his brother Nathan wanted to do before he died, so it’d be fitting for Alfie to go in his memory. Alfie’s been through enough already – he deserves to win the day and have a happy ending!
