With her alter ego apparently doomed, star Nicola’s having fun at being bad…

Have you enjoyed playing out Nicola’s scamming storyline? I do love playing Nicola, and me and Ryan [Hawley, who plays Robert] have been having a good laugh at the stupidity of our characters. I think it’s nice playing people who do wrong things – the audience likes it too, and hopes they’ll get caught!

What would be Nicola’s dream job?

She’d love to be a lady of leisure and have lots of money, but I also think she’d get bored with that. She’s an excellent PA – no one could ever doubt that – but perhaps she’d like to have her own company. She’s not a good people person, though, so she’d need to work on that!

Will this be the last time she gets up to no good?

I think she’d rather stick to kosher jobs for a short time! The trouble with Nicola is that things like the scam with Graham are far too tempting for her. But she probably thinks Graham deserves it. She reckons she’s only been ripping off someone who’s ripped off other people.

Have you enjoyed working with Ryan?

Yeah, he’s a good laugh. It’s not much fun up at that bloomin’ scrapyard, though, because it’s freezing. And it’s genuinely dirty. I think, ‘Come on guys, this is a set, we can just pretend it’s dirty?’ If you think it looks grim – it really is!

So how’s the rest of 2019 looking for Nicola?

Well, I think there’s going to be no dieting for her, because she will have to eat a lot of humble pie…
