The police question Amy & Kerry

WILL THEY CRACK AS THE POLICE QUESTION THEM ABOUT THE FIRE?

- Sarah Ellis

Guilt-ridden Kerry and Amy must face the consequences of their actions this week, as the cops start questioning the locals over the factory fire!

With one villager killed in the blaze, the police are serious about catching the culprit – leaving Kerry and Amy terrified. But as Kerry is hauled down to the station for interrogation, will she be able to remain calm under pressure?

“Both Kerry and Amy know this could be really bad for them,” explains Laura Norton, who plays Kerry. “No matter how tough-skinned you are, or how much trouble you’ve been in before, it’s awful to think you might be responsible for something like that.”

As the week kicks off and news spreads around the village about the terrible events at the factory, Kerry and Amy are still in denial about the fact that it’s all down to them. Although they broke in to return the charity money they stole – then had a change of heart and decided to keep it after all – they’re convinced that the blaze couldn’t have possibly been their fault.

However, after the money is revealed to be missing, the cops set about interviewing everyone who works at the factory – and when DI Goldberg finds a hole in Kerry’s story, she starts to panic…

“There’s all sorts of ways of dealing with something like this,” reckons Laura. “There’s denial. There’s putting yourself at the forefront of somebody’s life to make up for what you’ve done. There’s wanting to admit to it and do the right thing. Kerry’s up and down right now – she’s barely even sleeping.”

Despite the guilt that’s weighing her down, Kerry’s trying desperately to hold it all together for her daughter, and is encouraging Amy to act normally. So imagine Kerry’s horror when she stumbles upon her girl about to confess their terrible crimes to Nate!

“Kerry and Amy are both going through it, but they’re dealing with things so differently,” reveals Natalie

Ann Jamieson, aka Amy, as she takes up the story. “Although they have each other and can share what’s going on, it’s so tense that they don’t really have each other. Whatever one thinks is sensible to do, the other one would definitely think the opposite.”

While Kerry manages to stop Amy confessing in the nick of time, it seems Kerry herself needs to do something to make up for her terrible actions. And Amy’s mortified when her mum blurts out that she’s going to be organising her own fund-raiser to replace the charity money that was stolen!

So with Kerry not exactly keeping a low profile, how long will it be before the locals figure out her guilty secret?

“It’s going to be interesting to see this storyline play out, because it will be over quite a period of time,” teases Laura. “You’ll see a proper journey for both Kerry and Amy. They’re going to fall out and then come back together – and it’ll also affect other relationships they have in the village…”
