Gary has a plan to save the factory

GARY SAVES THE FACTORY… BUT WHAT’S IN IT FOR HIM?

- Sarah Ellis

Gary’s not doing this deal out of the goodness of his heart!”

CORONATION STREET | ITV FRIDAY

Gary comes up with a plan to save Underworld from closure this week – by bringing an investor on board!

Given that Gary was the person responsible for the building crashing down in the first place, surely this is the least he can do to stop the business from falling apart completely. But as he introduces Nick to his

cashed-up associate Derek, what exactly does Gary stand to get out of this deal?

“Gary’s shown himself to be capable of terrible things, so you can guarantee he’s not doing this deal out of the goodness of his heart,” tuts our Weatherfield insider. “And since there’s no love lost between him and ex-girlfriend Sarah, he’s certainly not doing it to secure

her future, either! Which means he can only be doing it to benefit himself…”

As the week kicks off, Gary’s having a few business issues of his own, after he leaves Ryan in charge of his new furniture shop. When he returns, Gary is impressed to hear that Ryan’s sold a couple of things and made £200 – but he’s furious when he realises that his assistant offloaded a desk which had £650 in cash hidden inside a drawer!

After going on a wild goose chase to track down the desk, Gary eventually discovers that it was Ryan himself who took the loot. And once Ryan owns up to his misdemeanor, Gary makes it clear that he will be paying him back every single penny – with a whole heap of interest on top!

Not content with starting his own furniture empire, Gary spots a chance to get involved with the rebuild of the factory

as well. And after Sarah informs the workers that the £20,000 pay out from the insurance company won’t be enough to get the business back up and running, Gary swoops in with his investment proposition…

“As you can imagine, Sarah wants nothing to do with her ex and his dodgy dealings,” our spy informs us. “However, Nick seems to be on board with the idea. And when the workers – who now all hold shares in the factory – find out what’s going on, Sarah ends up being outvoted!”

As Nick and Derek shake on their deal, Gary makes it clear that Derek will only stump up the cash on the proviso that Gary is in charge of the rebuild! It seems to be the perfect way for the builder to get his flagging yard back off the ground – but is guaranteed work the only reason Gary’s stepping in to save the factory? Or could he have another, more sinister motive?
