“Pam wants Ben to move forward…”

As Pam arrives to save the day, actress Lin Blakley had a ball…

-

It’s great to have you and Pam back in Walford, Lin!

Ah, it’s been lovely for me, too – it always is. It’s like going home to see my other family. I’ve tried to keep up with watching the show, as I like to see what they’re all doing. I think it’s a great programme to watch.

What was it like meeting Max Bowden, who’s taken on the role of Ben since you last returned?

He’s a lovely young actor. Working with two new cast members in him and Tony [Clay, aka Callum] was great. And I also had a nice five minutes with Danny Dyer [Mick], as Pam goes to the Vic while she’s back – it was lovely to see him again.

Does Pam suspect that something is going on with Ben?

She has a second sense, so she knows there’s something. When you care for someone like Pam does for Ben, I think you just know. Pam is wise, so she gives him good advice.

Would you offer the same wise words if you were Ben’s friend?

Absolutely. Paul has gone, and Pam is hurt over that, but she wants Ben to go forward. It’s what Paul would want, too.

It’s not the first time Pam’s popped back to Walford since moving to Worthing with hubby Les – is it nice to have the opportunity?

Oh, I love it. I think Pam should be back to do the flowers – there’s not a fresh flower stall on the Square any more, is there? It’s so nice to have the door left open.

You’re touring in the play

Murder, Margaret And

Me, as Agatha Christie – how’s that going?

I’ve been very lucky to play her – she was such a colourful person. It’s been really nice to be back doing theatre.

Are you still in touch with Roger Sloman and Jonny Labey (Les and Paul)?

I am. I saw Jonny in Strictly Ballroom, and now he’s

on X Factor:

Celebrity – he’s a showman! And Roger and I meet up every couple of months for coffee.
