Shona can’t remember David

IT’S CLEAR SHE HAS A LONG WAY TO GO…

- Kate White

Desperate David thinks all his prayers have been answered this week, when Shona wakes from her coma – however, his nightmare is only just beginning.

Although she’s fought back from the brink of death, Shona isn’t the woman David married a few weeks ago. In fact, she has no idea who he is and remembers nothing about their life together. Her reaction to him leaves David distraught.

“David imagines that Shona will open her eyes and wrap her arms around him, but that’s not the case at all,” warns

Jack P Shepherd, who plays the inconsolable husband.

“She opens her eyes and doesn’t know who he is! After weeks of waiting by her side, dreaming of this moment, he’s gutted. Shona doesn’t know who she is, never mind David!”

Doctors have warned David that Shona has a long road to recovery ahead, even if she does pull through. However, he’s been steadfast in his belief that the woman he loves will get better. So, when Shona fails to recognise him, David decides to bring Max and Lily to see her, hoping that they will be able to spark her memory.

“The rest of the Platt family don’t think it’s a good idea, because they’re worried about the effect it could have on the kids if Shona isn’t her usual self,” explains Jack. “At first it looks as if she remembers Max because she smiles, but then she says ‘Clayton’ – which is the worst thing you could say to someone whose mum was murdered by him. Max runs out, it’s like a slap in the face.”

Shona doesn’t even know who she is – let alone who David is!”

With the kids’ visit ending in disaster, David changes tactics.

“David tries to jog Shona’s memory by showing her their wedding album, in the hope that seeing pictures of the two of them getting married will work,” shares Jack. “It was only six weeks ago – she has to remember that! But when she sees them, she freaks out.”

With their life in tatters, can David cope with what’s ahead?

“The doctors say they’ve done all they can for Shona at this point, and she needs more specialist help,” shares Jack. “But David’s adamant he’ll be there every step of the way – he’s not giving up on her.”
