Abuser Geoff tells Yasmeen’s worried friends that she’s an alcoholic this week, in an effort to cover up his terrible behaviour.
His desperate move comes after concerned Cathy sees Yasmeen’s husband lashing out at her in a despicable fashion. She’s horrified by what she sees and reveals her concerns to Brian. But when Brian confronts Geoff, the twisted newlywed shifts the blame to Yasmeen – by labelling her a drunk whom he’s attempting to help.
“Geoff is perilously close to losing control of Yasmeen, and he’ll say anything to regain his power,” says our Weatherfield insider. “He’s done a brilliant job of making her believe she’s a bad person and twisting it all around to make her doubt herself. But when Cathy sees what he’s doing, Geoff knows the game could be up and he needs to make a move.”
The incident unfolds as
Geoff ramps up the pressure on Yasmeen at their home. He’s devised a cleaning rota and is ensuring Yasmeen’s hours are filled with chores while he’s working. But when Cathy spots her friend returning from the shop laden with cleaning stuff, she challenges Yasmeen on why she’s so obsessed with keeping her house pristine.
Yasmeen defends herself, and the two women share a drink together – yet when Geoff gets home, he sees red. Waiting for Cathy to leave, he launches into a tirade against Yasmeen and they tussle over the vacuum. Geoff falls and hits his face on the table, and when Cathy returns to grab a bag she left, she overhears him letting rip at his terrified wife.

Cathy can’t believe Geoff’s attitude to his wife, and she fears for Yasmeen’s safety. Voicing her concerns to partner Brian, Cathy is determined to make sure Yasmeen is okay. But meanwhile, Yasmeen is mortified at giving Geoff a black eye and considers that she’s the one at fault. After spending all night cleaning to appease her husband, Yasmeen is desperate to get things back on track – but Geoff’s next move changes everything.
“When Brian confronts him, Geoff plays the innocent and claims Yasmeen is an alcoholic,” gasps our spy. “Brian assumes that Yasmeen caused Geoff’s black eye and that he’s being abused. It suits Geoff to let him keep thinking that, as it takes the pressure off him. Soon Yasmeen is answering the door to Peter, who wants to invite her to his AA meeting!”
