Mitch accuses Gray of cheating

SHE SUFFERS FURTHER ABUSE AFTER HER DAD INTERFERES…

- Laura-jayne Tyler

Gray is struggling to hold it together this week, having been suspended from his law firm – and once again it’s his wife Chantelle who ends up in the firing line…

Gray is seething when his office returns his belongings, after he is forced to pack up his desk for the time being. His suspension means he can no longer represent Whitney, and – with his practice having dropped her case entirely – Whit is now on her own.

“Not only does Gray feel he’s let down Whitney, but his fragile ego is bruised – he insists Chantelle doesn’t tell her family what’s happened,” shares our Albert Square sneak. “Seeing everyone in the Vic, he soon retreats to the toilets where his anger and loathing bubble over. And we all know who is usually the person to pay the price for that…”

Chantelle tries to support her husband the best that she can, and her words apparently give Gray food for thought. He tells Chantelle of his plans to take Whitney’s case anyway, hoping to use it as a way of returning to his job as soon as possible. But his plan backfires when Mitch realises that something’s up.

“It’s while

Gray is attempting to salvage his career that Jack spots him entering a hotel and mentions it to Mitch,” explains our mole. “Chantelle’s father is not

Gray’s biggest fan in any case, and he’s quick to conclude that he must be cheating.”

Despite warnings from Karen and Chantelle to keep his nose out, curious Mitch’s investigation leads him to Gray’s old office – where he learns that Gray has been issued with a suspension.

However, as far as Gray is concerned, only Chantelle knows about that – so when Mitch confronts him and offers his mortified son-in-law some money while he gets

“Gray feels he’s let down Whit – and his ego is bruised”

back on his feet, Gray assumes Chantelle has spilled the beans to her dad. With that, he returns home and, in dramatic scenes, once again explodes at his wife…

“This isn’t the first time that Mitch’s interference has resulted in pain and agony for Chantelle,” recalls our spy.

“He thinks that he is doing right by his daughter in challenging Gray, with zero idea that her volatile husband takes his frustrations out on her behind closed doors.”

Meanwhile, Mitch breaks the news of Gray’s suspension to Karen, who organises a surprise to cheer Gray up.

Ushering him over to the Vic, Karen leads Gray into a packed pub full of people cheering his arrival, before Mitch steps up and says sorry for doubting Gray’s commitment to Chantelle.

Gray attempts to mask his discomfort with a grin – but secretly he is horrified that Chantelle never betrayed his confidence, while she now attempts to recover from his earlier outburst at home.

Will Gray ever take responsibility for his appalling behaviour? Or will Chantelle find the courage to speak up before it’s too late?
