Stuart pops the question to Rainie
BUT WHAT ON EARTH WILL SHE SAY?
Stuart tries to find the perfect way to cheer up his depressed girlfriend this week, and decides to propose to her! But will that do the trick?
Stuart grows concerned about Rainie’s wellbeing when she has an awkward encounter at the funeral parlour, where they both work. An ex ‘client’ of Rainie’s turns up at Coker’s, which embarrasses her, as it reminds her of how she used to earn money as a sex worker.
“Rainie has changed so much in the past few years,” states our Eastenders spy. “She’s worked hard to leave that part of her life well and truly in the past. So, when she sees a reminder of her former occupation right in front of her, she is momentarily thrown, not to mention ashamed.”
Fortunately, Stuart is quick to notice Rainie’s discomfort, and does his best to try to reassure her. Nevertheless, she remains unsettled by the unexpected encounter.
It seems nothing can improve downcast Raine’s mood, even after the couple go for dinner at Walford East later that evening. Initially, everything seems to be going quite well, but once Mick and Linda turn up to enjoy a meal at the restaurant too, things head south very quickly.
“Mick and Linda are having troubles of their own, of course,” our mole reminds us. “And although they’re slowly working through their issues, Linda is still feeling rather brittle, to say the least. That’s the last thing Rainie needs right now, and the two women are soon at each other’s throats!”
Rainie’s spat with Linda prompts her to talk to Stuart about her chequered past, exposing her vulnerabilities to him like never before. And once Stuart realises just how sensitive Rainie is, he’s at a loss as to what he can do to help her.
Rainie feels ashamed when an ex ‘client’ turns up at the undertakers’…”
“It’s interesting to see just how similar Rainie and Stuart are,” muses our sneak. “They both have a history of addiction, and they both hide their true insecurities behind a hard exterior. You can see why the pair might be kindred spirits, but that doesn’t mean that poor Stuart automatically knows the right words to comfort Rainie. If anything, he just seems to put his foot in it and make matters worse…” After speaking to his brother Callum, and then overhearing Jay and Lola discussing their relationship, Stuart comes up with a plan to make everything all right – he will ask Rainie to be his wife!
However, although his intentions are good, is this really what Rainie wants to hear right now? Or does she just want Stuart to truly listen to her, and understand how she’s feeling?
