As Mitchell’s loved ones gather in the Dog to celebrate with a surprise birthday party, Toby’s fuming that, once again, he’s spending his special day without his biological family by his side. So with vengeful
Toby threatening to expose his true identity to everyone at the get-together, is Mitchell about to receive the biggest bombshell of his life?
“Be prepared for some big surprises!” teases star Imran Adams, who plays Mitchell. “There are still a lot of things that the audience doesn’t know about – things that have been hinted at for months – so hopefully people can join the dots and realise that the answers were right under their noses on screen all along!”
Toby may be out to ruin the happy occasion, but Scott is determined to make sure that Mitchell has the best day ever. It’s the first birthday the pair have spent together as a couple, so Scott throws the party to end all parties…
“Mitchell’s not really looking for much of a fuss,” confirms
Imran. “But Scott wants to give Mitchell a birthday to remember! So when Mitchell arrives at the Dog and sees what Scott has done for him, he’s shocked, to say the least.
“Scott goes for it – it’s really a celebration of Mitchell coming out as well as being his birthday,” he adds. “So it’s one big, LGBT, out-andproud rainbow bash!”
However, with vengeful Toby lurking in the background, the
party could soon descend into disaster! And he’s not the only person threatening to derail the fun – Mitchell’s grandad Walter is refusing to come along to the soirée, having rejected his grandson after Mitchell came out as gay.
“He’s not happy without his grandad there,” sighs Imran. “It really would mean everything to him if Walter was to turn up. All Mitchell wants right now is to lead a happy life, but that’s hard because he feels incomplete without his grandad – he feels as if a part of his soul is missing.”
With that in mind, loving partner Scott visits Walter to beg him to put his own feelings aside for the day, and to come and join his grandson’s special shindig. So might Walter turn up after all and cause a scene? Or will it be Toby who crashes the party and sends Mitchell reeling? Either way, Imran tells us that there’s plenty of drama in store…
“This plot is very ambitious – it’s a bit like a psychological thriller!” grins the star. “There’s a lot of backstory involved, and it’s never been done in a soap in quite this way. It’s different, it’s unique – and it’s a little bit scary!”
