Alf & Martha plan to tie the knot
Tells us about her alter ego’s Summer Bay wedding to Alf…
While it’s been non-stop drama and despair in the Bay recently, Alf and Martha offer a ray of light when they decide to tie the knot this week. Belinda Giblin – who plays the bride-to-be – tell us all about the big day…
Hello, Belinda! How excited is Martha to get married to Alf ?
Well, they’re actually renewing their vows because they’ve been married for a long while now – but then she staged her drowning… you know the story! Because of what’s happened recently, the wedding is there to brighten everything up.
Is the ceremony Martha’s idea of the perfect wedding?
Martha likes things to be a little casual, so it’s in the garden at home. It’s quite romantic and emotional, and Alf builds something special for Martha that they had when they got married all those years ago.
What was it like to film the wedding scenes?
Well, it was a very, very hot day
– I was in a very beautiful dress, but we were all sat under umbrellas and everyone was attempting to cool us all down.
Do you think Alf and Martha can go the distance this time?
Yes! The writers might disagree, though! Although I don’t think we’ll see much more of Martha’s mental struggle – she’s found the man she’s always loved.
How do you think people will react to Alf being a taken man?
Well, because Alf is such a loved character, I’m sure they’ll all be pleased. I was in my local shopping centre the other day, and there were women having coffee, shouting,
“Martha!
Will you look after
Alf ?”
