Friends and Derry Girls with him. He’s been super-helpful, and also kind of amusing – but don’t tell him that I said that!”
Sadly, the relationship between Fenisha and
Ethan isn’t quite so friendly on screen, after she ditched him following their one-night stand – then got together with his friend, Will! However, Fenisha’s world is turned upside down this week, when the paramedic finds out that she’s pregnant with Ethan’s baby. Olivia talks us through the shocking discovery…
Fenisha and Will are pretty loved-up. How serious is she about him?
She’s not really the settling-down type, marriage is too conventional for her. She’s someone who very much goes with the flow, she’s having fun with Will, and she intends to keep that going. They’re similar, neither of them wants commitment, so I think they speak the same language in that way. They can laugh together and make fun of each other, which in my opinion is the making of a great relationship.
When does Fenisha first suspect that she could be having a baby?
Fenisha and Will are having such a chilled-out morning, just laughing and chatting. It hasn’t crossed her mind about her period, until her tracking app alerts her that she’s late – and I think her heart completely drops, because she’s so taken by surprise. She ends up taking a whole load of pregnancy tests, which are all positive, and that’s when it all suddenly becomes real.
How does Fenisha react?
She’s in total shock, as she’s a woman who prides herself on not making plans, just letting life happen. She definitely had no plans to get pregnant any time soon! She just wants to get through her shift, and ignore the facts until she’s alone at home and can think about what she wants to do.
Why does she end up telling Will the truth so soon then?
Fenisha and Lev are at a scoop where Fenisha gets injured, and Will wants to check her over. He suggests an X-ray, and she’s adamant that she doesn’t want one. So in a less-than-sensitive way, she just blurts out that she’s pregnant, and the baby isn’t his – she can see the cogs turning, and she’s not the sort of person who wants to hide anything. She always wants to be open and honest.
How does Will react?
Not in the most sensitive way! He goes into doctor mode, wanting to discuss options with her and wanting to do another test, when she just needs a hug from the guy she really likes. It’s not the ideal reaction

to learning his girlfriend is pregnant with another man’s baby – but to be fair, I don’t think there’s a perfect reaction for that!
There’s obviously lots of drama to come between Fenisha, Will and Ethan. Can you tell us what to expect?
It’s juicy! But it’s also a very emotional storyline – what I like is that it’s not a typical love triangle with game-playing. It feels like real people who have to deal with real-life issues, and it’s not going to be easy. These relationships are going to change and pretty rapidly.
What’s it like being a Casualty newbie?
I’ve actually been with the show since October, because we film episodes a few months in advance – so I had to keep the fact I’d won the part a secret for quite a long time! But it has been an amazing experience, everyone involved is just insanely lovely, and there’s so much warmth and laughter on set. Casualty bosses just seem to have this radar for fun people, I don’t know how they do it!
