Linda suffers a setback…
WILL A FAMILIAR FACE SPELL DOOM – OR DELIVERANCE?
Linda infuriates her family this week, by refusing to go to her alcoholic support group – because of Phil Mitchell! She has been working hard on her recovery, and while it’s still early days, her peers are helping her to stay sober. The group has become a haven for Linda; a place where she can be completely honest about her struggles with addiction. So, when she attends her session as usual and Phil suddenly shows up, Linda feels as though he’s taken her lifeline away from her.
“Linda finds it very difficult to talk about her alcoholism and the depths it drove her to,” shares our Walford insider. “So the idea of talking freely in front of someone like Phil, who she has a complicated relationship with, is too much. She’d rather not go back and deal with Phil in that context, no matter how good the group is for her.”
When Mick and Shirley find out that Linda is quitting the support group, they’re horrified. They both know what the consequences could be, and are frightened it won’t be long until Linda suffers a relapse.
It’s frustrating for them that Linda won’t get past Phil’s presence. However, if there’s one person who understands her struggle, it’s Phil. But she has no trust in him whatsoever. Linda can’t believe Sharon is back with him after what he did following the discovery that Keanu was her secret

lover. And she was there when Martin had to decide whether to shoot Keanu dead on Phil’s orders. So, as far as Linda is concerned, Phil’s a scumbag.
“Sharon might forgive and forget, but Linda will never trust Phil,” explains our spy. “That’s a shame for them both, because they could have found a friend in each other after going through the same battle with alcoholism…”
So, as Linda faces another painful week, is the answer to her problem staring her in the face? Could Phil turn out to be just the support Linda needs
– if she could only bring herself to somehow let him in?
