STACEY DOOLEY INTRODUCES US TO A GAME SHOW WITH A DIFFERENCE…

- Tom Spilsbury

THIS IS MY HOUSE | BBC1 WEDNESDAY

We’ve all enjoyed the game show Through The Keyhole, but this week BBC1 crosses the concept with

Would I Lie To You?, to bring you This Is My House – in which we’ll see four people all claiming to be the same homeowner. However, only one is telling the truth…

“The way the show works is that we go into people’s homes, where there are three imposters and one genuine homeowner,” explains host Stacey Dooley. “Our panel has to figure out which one of them really lives there. If they guess correctly, the homeowner wins £1,000. But if an imposter convinces the panel it’s them, then the genuine homeowner gets nothing. It’s completely daft – total escapism TV!”

Playing property Poirot is a team of four celebrities: actress Emily Atack, and comedians Bill Bailey, Judi Love and Jamali Maddix.

“Emily is a total sweetheart,” shares Stacey. “Judi’s a scream, Bill is the kindest man in telly, and Jamali reminds me of the lads I grew up with. They worked so well as a team!”

Stacey also tells us that she found the experience a hoot…

“My favourite part is when you meet the homeowner’s partner, who has to stay quiet, while three strangers declare their undying love for them,” she chuckles. “Meanwhile, the true owner has to watch these strangers tell their partner how gorgeous they are!

“I didn’t want to know who the actors were, as I wanted to play along,” continues Stacey. “Sometimes, I cottoned on really quickly; others, I was certain that it was one of the imposters. The tell-tale signs were how they moved around the home, or opened a drawer – little things like that. Viewers will find themselves guessing along. It’s so much fun!”
