Peter faces a death sentence…

A LIVER TRANSPLANT IS NOW HIS ONLY HOPE OF SURVIVAL…

- Sarah Ellis

Poor Peter receives devastating news this week, as he’s told that he will need a liver transplant to save his life, and unfortunately there’s no guarantee he’ll get one…

Although Peter has been sober for a while, and has been ghting tooth and nail to get himself back up to full health again, it’s clear that the damage has already been done. His only hope now is a new liver, and without one, he might not live to make Carla his wife again.

“Make no mistake, Peter’s condition is about as serious as it gets right now,” warns our Corrie insider. “When he visits the hospital for his check-up, he’s given the worst possible news: nothing that he’s done so far has worked, and his liver is beyond repair. All he can do now is wait, and pray for a miracle.”

It’s been a rough few months for Peter and Carla, but as a couple they’re stronger than ever – so much so that Carla makes a huge sacri ce for Peter, as she agrees to give up her job at the factory in order to focus on him.

While there’s no doubt that Carla has poured her heart and soul into Underworld, things are getting tricky for her there – especially with suave business associate Lucas hanging around. Carla knows Peter is jealous of him, so when Lucas calls at the factory again, Carla tells Nick that he’ll have to take the meeting without her, as she’s not willing to put her relationship with Peter on the line.

So, once Sarah later points out that with Nick now back at work full-time, Carla is no longer needed at the factory, it’s a complete no-brainer

– and Carla inevitably quits. But while she assures Peter that without a job to get in the way he’s now her number-one priority, Carla still has no idea just how serious her ancé’s condition really is…

“The sad fact of the matter is that Peter may not even be eligible for a liver transplant,” sighs our spy. “There are an awful lot of people waiting for the life-saving surgery, and nowhere near enough livers to go around. When a suitable organ does become available, it’s then a question of who needs it the most – and Peter could nd that he’s not at the top of the priority list.”

While there’s no doubt that Peter’s diagnosis is a terrible blow, he nonetheless comes out of his appointment ghting. He makes it clear to Daniel that he isn’t going to give up on his future, and that he doesn’t intend to let Carla and Simon down any more than he already has.

However, as Peter breaks the tragic news to Carla, before promising that nothing will stand in the way of them walking down the aisle, is that a promise he’s able to keep?
