My Telly HEAVEN!
As Clean It, Fix It returns this week, extreme cleaner Maxine Dwyer tells Inside TV the shows she loves to soak up…
What has been your favourite drama you’ve watched recently? I’ve been watching Black Mirror – it’s absolutely amazing. I’m glued to my chair watching it!
And what do you enjoy watching comedy-wise?
I love old comedies – things like Morecambe & Wise, Bread… I also love Mo Gilligan, and The Big Narstie Show, that’s fun – big belly laughs.
What were your favourite shows when you were growing up? We only had four channels, so we didn’t have much choice! But I used to watch gardening shows, and documentaries on animals and stuff like that – David Attenborough, Johnny Morris… And Coronation Street and Crossroads, I’d watch those.
Was there also a kids’ cartoon you particularly loved?
Oh, goodness, yes, lots and lots. The Magic Roundabout
I loved, and Clangers!
What’s your favourite show to relax in front of? My 600-lb Life – it’s about people who are challenged in their weight. And 10 Years Younger In 10 Days is amazing. I like those kinds of transformation programmes, I find them very interesting.
Are there any shows that you series link or binge-watch?
I watch The Kardashians sometimes, but I don’t ever watch things religiously. The only time I’d ever say that is for Clean It, Fix It!
Is there anyone on television who has particularly inspired you? The ladies on Loose Women – especially Judi Love. I used to follow her on Instagram, and now she’s on the big screen! And Oprah Winfrey. Everyone looks up to her, and being a black woman as well, she’s wonderful. Also Phillip Schofield and Holly Willoughby are amazing. I’d love to be on their show, by the way!
Are there any other programmes that you’d like to be on, or have a role in?
I’d love to be on Loose Women
– because I can sit behind a desk and my belly won’t show! Any of those sort of chat shows. Ooh, or I’d like to stand behind the bar on EastEnders, just there in the background, silent but deadly!
See Maxine in Clean It, Fix It on BBC1, Tuesday at 8.30pm
