MARTIN COMPSTON AND TUPPENCE MIDDLETON TAKE US THROUGH THEIR NAIL-BITING NEW THRILLER…

- Allison Jones

An all-star cast including Martin Compston, Tuppence Middleton, Rupert PenryJones, Weruche Opia and Bronagh Waugh star in this new four-part drama – playing out across the week – based on the best-selling novel by Louise Candlish.

When Fiona Lawson arrives home to find a new couple moving into it – her family and possessions nowhere to be seen – a devastating sequence of events is set to follow. Desperate to get hold of her estranged husband Bram to find out what the hell has happened, Fi is taken on a terrifying journey as dark secrets and shocking revelations are laid bare.

In the immediate aftermath of Fi’s devastating discovery, viewers are taken along for this nail-biting ride via a series of flashbacks to her and Bram’s former life. And with an edge-of-seat finale in store as a result, Inside TV joined Tuppence and Martin, who play the ex-couple,

to tell us more…

Hello, both! What was it that drew you to this series? Tuppence So many things! The script is riveting, a really clever adaptation of the book, which is a great mix of love story and thriller. I couldn’t put it down… Martin It’s a relationship drama, but I didn’t expect it to be so exciting. When I got to the end of one episode, I couldn’t wait to read the next!

What can you tell us about your characters? Martin Bram’s essentially a good guy, but he has a self-destruct button… Tuppence Fi is a very strong woman, who’s devoted to her family, her kids, her community and her house. She’s high-achieving and capable, but has perhaps neglected some of her relationships over the years as material things have become important to her.

And what about Fi and Bram’s relationship? Tuppence Fi and Bram’s attraction has never gone away, but their kids and jobs have got in the way. They’re quite different characters – Fi’s more in control, Bram’s more of a free spirit. In the end their differences drive them apart, and Bram does something Fi sees as unforgiveable…

Might we learn anything while watching what they go through? Martin A huge issue for Bram is that you don’t know what you’ve got until it’s gone. It takes something cathartic for him and Fi to realise that, then it’s too late. And this series also poses the vital question: how far would you go to protect your loved ones?

What do you reckon the audience will make of it? Tuppence Firstly, I hope they’ll be thrilled and moved. It’s an unexpected story, so hopefully people will allow themselves to be taken along for the ride… Martin It will certainly surprise people – there are such big talking points, every episode. The suspense and anticipation build and build. It’s an absolutely brilliant way to spend a few hours!
