Hollywood’s famous ‘runaway bride’ Julia Roberts has nothing on Walford’s Jean Slater – as Stacey’s mum prepares to get wed, and legs it!
These dramatic sneak pictures of Walford’s Gillian Wright filming on location show the actress donning the most extraordinary wedding dress for her character’s big day drama. However, the look on Jean’s face suggests that she’s in a bit of a hurry…
“Is it a case of Jean racing to get to the church on time, or is she jilting the groom?” teases our Square insider. “Either way, that frock is not designed for sprinting through the streets of Southend!”
EastEnders crew recently descended on the seaside town in Essex to film the curious plot for Jean, who isn’t even engaged on screen. However, considering the pace of her blossoming romance with new man, Harvey, we suspect things are going to escalate pretty fast.
“Stacey is making no secret of the fact that she’s worried for her mum’s mental health,” shares our spy. “Jean’s erratic behaviour has been ramping up, and Stacey thinks that there could be more to it. Will it turn out that Jean’s bipolar disorder is at the root of the chaos unfolding in our pics?”
If the sensational scenes aren’t enough to prompt concern for Jean’s well-being, she’ll also end up riding a roller coaster by herself – while still wearing her wedding gown! Meanwhile, stars James Bye and Lacey Turner, aka Martin and Stacey, were spotted in the vicinity as their alter egos appeared to scour the streets for Jean.

EastEnders is to pull out all the stops for Mick Carter’s exit from Albert Square, reveals departing star Danny Dyer. The actor confirmed his decision to quit the soap earlier this year, and says that bosses plan to send him off in spectacular style.
“We’ve just been pitched my leaving storyline,” reveals Danny. “It’s going to be epic.”
However, it now seems unlikely that Mick and Linda will sail off into the sunset together. Inside Soap had wondered if actress Kellie Bright – who is back filming following maternity leave – would be departing the show as well. Yet, the actress has implied that she’s staying on after co-star Danny leaves.
“I don’t know how I’m going to get through, because I’m very sad that Danny is going,” shares Kellie. “But his departure is going to be very exciting!”
