Stuart’s surgery fears!

WILL HE FALL BACK INTO HIS ADDICTION?

- Alice Penwill

Stuart goes ahead with his cancer surgery this week – however, it’s clear that he’s struggling both physically and mentally.

Since his breast cancer diagnosis, Stuart has been in denial and even tried to heal his illness holistically. But it was the birth of baby Roland that eventually convinced him to have the operation, which could provide him the best chance of making it through to see his son grow up.

However, as the day of his surgery arrives, Stuart begins to have second thoughts about whether he’s doing the right thing – especially when he spots Linda drinking.

“Stuart’s biggest fear is his drug addiction returning,” reveals our Walford spy. “And when Stuart sees Linda sneaking alcohol into her drink, he realises she’s relapsed. It’s a catch-22, because Stuart very badly needs the surgery – and without it, he could stand a lesser chance of surviving.”

Stuart confesses to Rainie that he’s worried about his previous habit rearing its ugly head – especially if he has to take painkillers post-surgery. Rainie comforts her husband and even though Stuart’s fears remain, he decides to go ahead with the operation.

When Stuart gets out of surgery, he claims to be in no pain whatsoever. But after he struggles to reach Roland, Vi realises that Stuart is downplaying his discomfort.

“Vi believes that Stuart is spinning a lie,” says our sneak. “Stuart’s saying he’s not in any pain, probably to avoid taking additional drugs. As we all

know, Stuart is good at putting up a front – but Vi and Rainie know him better than anyone, so they’re bound to see through his façade.”

There’s a possibility that the operation could re-trigger his addiction, but with his family and friends supporting him, will Stuart be strong enough to avoid it? And more importantly, was the surgery a success in treating his cancer?
