Flash memory

- Lynn Gibson

This new eight-part psychological thriller kicks off with three episodes on Friday…

What’s it about?

Sophie Ellis has suffered total memory loss as a result of jumping off a ferry into the San Francisco Bay. As she starts to piece her life back together with the help of her husband and friends, she wonders if what she’s being told of her life is the one she really lived.

Sounds like the 2000 Guy Pearce movie Memento!

A bit. Just with fewer tattoos.

So who is in it? The Girl Before’s Gugu Mbatha-Raw – who also exec-produces with Reese

Witherspoon – is Sophie, with Oliver Jackson-Cohen (The Invisible Man) as her affluent husband James, Marianne Jean-Baptiste (Broadchurch) as her therapist Hannah, and Ari Graynor (The Sopranos) as her best pal Caroline.

We’re guessing people may not be all they seem… You’d be right! Successful and charming as James is, he’s also very troubled. And while Caroline helps Sophie get back into the swing of her social life, as one of James’ oldest friends, she’s privy to info that Sophie may not be.

And what of Sophie herself? Well, if Sophie really led the wonderful life everyone keeps telling her she did, why would she try to end it? During her quest to understand why she jumped ship, Sophie senses she might have a darker side.

It all looks very fancy, too… It is. Sophie’s dressing room includes Chanel, Dior and McQueen, so fashionistas will enjoy the looks as much as the clues they provide to her personality: none more so than a pivotal little black dress which reveals a side to Sophie she must rediscover…
