Amanda She’s a woman whose son is going to die if she doesn’t act. And if you work in a bank and have easy access to the money, and it’s a chance to save your son, you make yourself believe it’s for the greater good…
Varisha agrees to help Rowan with the heist; how would you describe their friendship?
Sunetra The two of them have a shorthand – a lovely trust where you can tell if somebody really needs your help, and you don’t ask too many questions…
Amanda Rowan goes behind Varisha’s back at first, and the fact she comes back and agrees to help with the heist just shows the strength of their friendship.
The series is set in Manchester, but you filmed in Budapest, what was it like?
Amanda The building we filmed in was amazing – it was a real bank with a proper vault. We got out to see some sights.
Sunetra It’s one of the most beautiful cities I’ve ever been to – I loved getting my map out and jumping on trams.
How exciting was it acting out a bank heist?
Sunetra It’s no Las Vegas Ocean’s Eleven, it’s the Manchester Ocean’s Four!…
Amanda We had a scene where I was explaining the robbery plan, with a map of the bank on the wall, and I didn’t really understand what I was doing at all – I was pointing at the wrong things!
What do you think the audience will most enjoy about the series?
Amanda It’s a really exciting story to watch, but it’s really about a mother’s love – and whether she gets away with it or not. It’s up to the audience to draw their own moral conclusions, and if people go away talking about that, then I’ll be very happy!
