BRIDGERTON ’S HOTLY ANTICIPATED PREQUEL SERIES REVEALS HOW QUEEN CHARLOTTE ROSE TO POWER…

- Allison Jones

As any self-respecting Bridgerton devotee knows, Queen Charlotte rules her Regency realm with a cool, calm and unflinching dedication – her subtle wit and razor-sharp instinct feared and admired in equal measure. This

Bridgerton prequel series reveals the journey that moulded her into the monarch she was destined to become – but never planned to be…

“We meet Charlotte when she has just been sold off, basically, to marry George, the future King of England,” explains India Amarteifio, who stars as the younger Charlotte after roles in West End productions

including The Lion King and Matilda The Musical, and TV series such as Line Of Duty and Doctor Who. “It’s an arrangement set up by her brother to create better trade between Germany, Charlotte’s home, and England. She has always wanted to marry for love so is frustrated, angry and lost.”

When George and Charlotte meet for the first time, however, it soon transpires his future bride is about to achieve her longed-for love match after all.

“There are two parallel universes in Queen Charlotte,” reveals Golda Rosheuvel, who plays Bridgerton’s reigning Queen in both series. “You’ve got my universe, which is still Bridgerton, then this wonderful new adventure for the audience to learn about Charlotte’s marriage to George, and her journey to becoming Queen.”

“She is such an iconic character,” adds India. “This series is going to be interesting and give so much context as to how Queen Charlotte became who she is. I’m super-excited!”
