Second fess!

CHRIS AND ROSIE RAMSEY TELL INSIDE TV HOW THEY’RE BACK TO COAX MORE CELEBRITY COUPLES TO SPILL THEIR SECRETS…

- Lynn Gibson

Married presenters Chris and Rosie Ramsey are back for a second series of their hit TV show, which makes the leap to a prime-time slot on BBC1. And when Inside TV had a natter with the pair, it was clear they couldn’t be more pleased about it…

“We’re so excited!” cheers Rosie. “It’s a huge honour. I mean, we were chuffed to bits to be on BBC2, and now we’re on BBC1 on a Friday night!”

Features such as Please Keep Me Anonymous – in which a famous face reads out people’s confessions – and It Goes Or I Go, where audience members get shot of an item their partner refuses to shun – are set to return, too…

“We’ve done one series, and we just thought, what’s the point of throwing a lot of new ideas at it when the ones we have already are really successful?” reasons Chris. “The channel loved it. The people loved it. So let’s just do them bigger and better!”

The ever-honest husband and wife will be joined by more celebrity couples to have a good laugh at life, love, relationships, parenting and general annoyances (aka ‘beefs’). However, do they still get shocked by people’s confessions?

“We’ve been broken by our podcast, so we’re not

“THERE’S NEVER A LACK OF BEEF!”

surprised by things any more!” admits Chris. “Sometimes the shock is more the person who’s saying it. You go, ‘Oh, my God, I can’t believe Craig Revel Horwood just said that, or Martine McCutcheon just said that’. So that’s the fun of the TV show.”

Filmed in the same week it airs, the stars for this series were still to be confirmed as we went to press – with Chris admitting “until they’re sitting on the sofa and we’re speaking to them, I don’t believe that they’re even gonna show up!” However, there is one showbiz pair they’d love to chat to…

“John Krasinski and Emily Blunt,” confirms Chris. “We nearly interviewed them once, and it fell through at the last minute. But any mega-private, famous A-lister…”

“Yeah, because you don’t know much about their life, other than what you read in gossip columns, which you don’t know if it’s true,” adds Rosie. “So it would be really interesting, wouldn’t it?”

What with the podcast, new series and a national tour kicking off this autumn, does

spending so much time together add to their material?

“Oh, there’s never a lack of beef!” chuckles Rosie. “We’ve just had to get stricter with the time we spend together – it was getting like marriage and work were the same. Now we’re like, that’s family; that’s work.”

“I’ve always floated the idea of going Penn and Teller-style – separate cars and dressing rooms, only meeting on stage,” jokes Chris. “But apparently we don’t have the budget for that!”
