“It feels like an original love story...”
KATHERINE PARKINSON AND KÉLLÉ BRYAN ON THEIR NEW COMEDY ABOUT FINDING LOVE A LITTLE LATER IN LIFE…
This new comedydrama follows neighbours Sam (Home’s Youssef Kerkour) and Anna (Here We Go’s Katherine Parkinson): two lonely mid-lifers with troubled love lives. The six-part series opens as Sam takes an overdose, only for Anna to bang on the door: she’s having a heart attack. Reunited in hospital, and with Sam’s marriage to Shelley (Kéllé Bryan, Hollyoaks’ Martine Deveraux) under strain, the pair find themselves embarking on a lessthan-straightforward romance. Here, Katherine and Kéllé share more…
Hi, both! Tell us about your characters… Katherine I play Anna, who’d been involved with a married man for about five years, then three years ago she ended it.
She’s found herself a bit adrift and more alone than perhaps she’d expected to be in life. Kéllé I play Shelley, who’s convoluted in many ways. She was the breadwinner, climbing the corporate ladder, then she wanted to have children, but it meant she had to make a career change. But she’s very resilient.
How would you describe the series? Katherine It feels like an original love story; one that hasn’t been told. It’s good to see older love. Obviously, I’m not that old – but there’s a different type of love that can happen in your mid-40s – one that’s really interesting.
Kéllé The first episode really sets the premise for the whole series. It’s quite shocking, but also truthful, which is what I loved about the script.
What can viewers expect from the series? Kéllé Laughter, and those ‘That’s so me!’ moments. And it will make you think about the effects of a break-up of a marriage. Katherine It’s telling the truth of mid-life: you’ve been bashed around a bit, but find something in another person that makes you feel like a better person yourself…
