Oh, I love this show. Good company, great locations and the occasional glass of wine. I should say what hard work it is – but I think everyone would know that I’d be lying!
The opener sees you taking Eddie Izzard on her first fishing trip in Ireland…
I’ve rarely been more comfortable in someone’s company. Taking Eddie fishing was sublime – although she is quite competitive! I can only hope that it’s not our last trip together.
And it looks as though you had great fun with Judi Love in the Lake District, too!
I don’t believe it is physically possible to spend time with Judi Love and not cry with laughter. She taught me to dance, and I got her to steer a boat. That seems like a very good exchange!
Can you tell us about some of your other highlights, like milking a goat in Wales with Roisin Conaty?
It doesn’t matter how well you get to know a goat, they do not come when called. I loved the milking, although I feel it’s a bold move to be squeezing a creature you’ve just met…
And what about wild swimming with Doon Mackichan?
It was my first time wild swimming in the UK, and my first break with Doon. She is one of the fastest wits I know and fortunately also a swift lifeguard – a double whammy of delight.
Who would be your dream travel companions if you head off for more escapes?
There is no end of fabulous females to take to the road with: Hannah Waddingham, Sheila Hancock, Meera Syal, Adjoa Andoh…
I may never come home!
