NICK GRIMSHAW TALKS ABOUT TELLY-TATTLING FOR GOGGLEBOX WITH HIS NIECE LIV…
Hi, Nick! What’s the best thing about doing the show with Liv?
I’m from Manchester and live in London, and I really miss hanging out with my family – so the best thing about doing the show is that Liv is contractually expected to visit weekly for a long run! She’ll usually come down on the Friday because she works all week, then stay the whole weekend, which I love. We grew up together, so we’re more like siblings than uncle and niece.
Can you share any behind-the-scenes secrets of filming?
We can get whatever snacks we want, and Liv and I were so excited when we found out about that. I really like Twiglets and a salt-and-vinegar Disco crisp. And a frozen yogurt as well!
Have you always been a big fan of Gogglebox?
I always watch it, I really love it! I find it quite hard to watch myself on TV, but I love it when Andi and Miquita [Oliver] are on, and Mo [Gilligan] and Babatunde [Aléshé]. Also, Jenny and Lee, on the regular series – I love them so much, they’re incredible. I could watch a whole Gogglebox just with them!
Which shows are you loving – and which are you not so keen to watch?
Liv and I are quite good in that we’ll watch anything and everything. We love reality shows and documentaries. I’d never watched Stranger Things because I thought it was for kids, but Gogglebox got me watching that. And we’ve both become obsessed with the 1% Club. We love a quiz!
What do you think is the secret of Gogglebox’s success?
There aren’t many things on TV now that feel like a shared experience, and Gogglebox is for everyone – it’s representative, and hilarious. Also, I like having a nosey into other people’s houses!
