The great escape
AS THE SERIES RETURNS WITH A FRESH SET OF ‘FUGITIVES’, COMPETITORS JAXON AND NICOLA SHARE MORE…
HUNTED Channel 4 9PM
Hello, both! Why are you taking part this series? Jaxon I’m trying to raise awareness for transgender people. I wanted to go on the run with my sister Nicola after everything that we’ve been through – we’re both prison officers, so I think it’s a really unique experience to take back to our jobs.
Nicola It’s something that we can do together, but I wanted to prove something to myself also. I feel I’m misjudged a lot in my appearance, and want to do something to prove people wrong.
What tactics are you planning to evade the hunters (led by Cleveland’s assistant chief constable Lisa Theaker)? Nicola Jaxon always says he would shove me to the front and let me do the sweet talking because he feels like he looks quite intimidating. Jaxon We’re just generally really genuine, nice human beings. And being prison officers, we’re used to dealing with a lot of different situations and different types of people.
Are you worried about getting into disagreements? Nicola It’s bound to happen, we bicker quite a lot, but it’s only harmless… Jaxon No matter how big the argument, there’s a bigger picture. Plus, Nicola destroys anyone in an argument, so there’s no point in even trying!
What home comforts will you miss most? Jaxon I’ll struggle without the dogs. It’ll be people rather than materialistic things that we’ll miss. Nicola The dogs and my mum – I don’t think I’ve ever gone a day without speaking to her.
How confident are you in making it to the end without capture, and winning the chance of sharing the £100,000 prize? Jaxon Absolutely confident. You’ve got no chance if you don’t believe you can do it!
