A cel­e­bra­tion to hon­our the re­tire­ment of Monique Bate­man MBE, re­tir­ing as Di­rec­tor af­ter 36 years with The Royal Navy & Royal Marines Chil­dren’s Fund, took place at Leeds Cas­tle. Wel­comed by Vice Ad­mi­ral Sir David Steel KBE DL, CEO of Leeds Cas­tle, which has cho­sen the Chil­dren’s Fund as one of its char­i­ties to sup­port over the past few years, 80 peo­ple gath­ered to recog­nise the ded­i­ca­tion and com­mit­ment Monique has shown to the char­ity which, un­der her ten­ure, now sup­ports ev­ery year 2,000 chil­dren with a par­ent serv­ing or ex-serv­ing from the Royal Navy and the Royal Marines when they are in need, hard­ship or dis­tress. Friends, sup­port­ers, present and for­mer Trustees gath­ered for a Cham­pagne re­cep­tion, pri­vate tours of the Cas­tle and din­ner in the Henry VIII Ban­quet­ing Hall.
