LORD LIEUTENANT’S AWARDS
Head of Physics Anthony Kanasewich and students Holly Howell and Ayomide Adelusola from the Duke of York’s Royal Military School have received Her Majesty’s Lord Lieutenant’s Awards for their achievements with the Combined Cadet Force.
Anthony, who holds the rank of Flight Lieutenant and commands the school’s RAF section of the CCF, was presented with a Meritorious Award in recognition of training cadets by Kent’s Lord Lieutenant Viscount De L’Isle MBE at a ceremony in Tunbridge Wells.
He has taught physics at the Dover school for 15 years, and joined the CCF in 2004, commanding the RAF section
MAKING ITS MARK IN MUSIC
A Tunbridge Wells primary school has been recognised for its commitment to high-quality music teaching. Temple
Grove Academy has been awarded Music Mark status for its development of a high standard of music provision and recognising the value of music education as part of a broad and balanced curriculum.
Music Mark works to lead high-quality music education by influencing, supporting and connecting teachers of music within schools. TGA was also recognised for having a strategy in place which provides music education for all children.
As well as the more traditional activities from 2014. Thanks to Anthony’s passion for the CCF, the school was presented with an RAF Platinum recruiting award in 2015 in appreciation of the quality of cadets who went on to join the RAF.
Cadet Sergeant Holly Howell (pictured above with the Lord Lieutenant) and Cadet Regimental Sergeant Major Ayomide Adelusola, both 17, received Cadet of the Year awards for outstanding service.
They have taken key roles with the school’s CCF and shown impressive leadership qualities alongside many personal achievements. Each will accompany the Lord Lieutenant at official engagements during the year. such as singing and weekly piano lessons, children have also tried beat boxing, taken part in whole class ukulele lessons and enjoyed a samba drumming workshop.
