LORD LIEU­TENANT’S AWARDS

Head of Physics Anthony Kanasewich and stu­dents Holly How­ell and Ay­o­mide Adelu­sola from the Duke of York’s Royal Mil­i­tary School have re­ceived Her Majesty’s Lord Lieu­tenant’s Awards for their achieve­ments with the Com­bined Cadet Force.

Anthony, who holds the rank of Flight Lieu­tenant and com­mands the school’s RAF sec­tion of the CCF, was pre­sented with a Mer­i­to­ri­ous Award in recog­ni­tion of train­ing cadets by Kent’s Lord Lieu­tenant Vis­count De L’Isle MBE at a cer­e­mony in Tun­bridge Wells.

He has taught physics at the Dover school for 15 years, and joined the CCF in 2004, com­mand­ing the RAF sec­tion

MAK­ING ITS MARK IN MU­SIC

A Tun­bridge Wells pri­mary school has been recog­nised for its com­mit­ment to high-qual­ity mu­sic teach­ing. Tem­ple

Grove Academy has been awarded Mu­sic Mark sta­tus for its de­vel­op­ment of a high stan­dard of mu­sic pro­vi­sion and recog­nis­ing the value of mu­sic ed­u­ca­tion as part of a broad and bal­anced cur­ricu­lum.

Mu­sic Mark works to lead high-qual­ity mu­sic ed­u­ca­tion by in­flu­enc­ing, sup­port­ing and con­nect­ing teach­ers of mu­sic within schools. TGA was also recog­nised for hav­ing a strat­egy in place which pro­vides mu­sic ed­u­ca­tion for all chil­dren.

As well as the more tra­di­tional ac­tiv­i­ties from 2014. Thanks to Anthony’s pas­sion for the CCF, the school was pre­sented with an RAF Plat­inum re­cruit­ing award in 2015 in ap­pre­ci­a­tion of the qual­ity of cadets who went on to join the RAF.

Cadet Sergeant Holly How­ell (pic­tured above with the Lord Lieu­tenant) and Cadet Reg­i­men­tal Sergeant Ma­jor Ay­o­mide Adelu­sola, both 17, re­ceived Cadet of the Year awards for out­stand­ing ser­vice.

They have taken key roles with the school’s CCF and shown im­pres­sive lead­er­ship qual­i­ties along­side many per­sonal achieve­ments. Each will ac­com­pany the Lord Lieu­tenant at of­fi­cial en­gage­ments dur­ing the year. such as singing and weekly piano lessons, chil­dren have also tried beat box­ing, taken part in whole class ukulele lessons and en­joyed a samba drum­ming work­shop.
