The 200-year-old Marquis at Alkham, which was bought by Ashford’s

GSE Group last year, has reopened after a major refurbishment under its original name of the Marquis of Granby. New landlords Will and Nadine Sheldon (above) aim to make the pub a key part of village life and a supporter of local projects and community events.

The architect behind the refurbishment is John Rogers, creator and owner of the Ramblinns group (see also page 53).
