Aaron kicks off his future football career

Kent Messenger Maidstone - - NEWS -

LOOK out Eboue. There’s some young home-grown talent close behind you! Aaron Barnes has been selected to train with the Arsenal Youth Academy after impressing talent scouts at the Dana Cup, in Denmark, in July, where the 11-year-old captained his team all the way to the final, eventually losing out to a German side. Aaron, who is a pupil at Shernolds School, Maidstone, had previously played with the Kent Elite side, but now travels to London three times a week to train with the Arsenal Under-11s. He also journeys all over the country for their league matches on Sundays while still working hard to prepare for his 11-plus exam in January. His father, Albert Barnes, said: “It’s a lot of hard work, but Aaron has a talent and he enjoys playing.” But Mr Barnes, of Prince Charles Avenue, Walderslade, modestly refused to take any credit for his son’s skills. He said: “I’m a criminologist with the London Criminal Justice Board. He’s not got it from me.”
