Kestrels cup win wraps up double

MAIDSTONE KESTRELS completed a league-andcup double when they beat Maidstone Athletic 3- 0 in the final of the Benevolent Cup Group B at Chatham Town FC.

Athletic had chances to open the scoring but Kestrels struck three times in the final 30 minutes. Joe Moss scored twice and Aaron Taylor was also on target as Kestrels rounded off of a superb season.

In the Premier Division, the spoils were shared when Wateringbu­ry and Lenham Wanderers played out a doublehead­er. Joe Walker (2), Harry Judge and Daniel Russell fired Lenham to a 4-1 victory in the first game but Wateringbu­ry stormed back rematch 7- 0.

Elsewhere in the division, Sam Bantock (2) and James Cole netted for Aylesford in their 3-3 draw at Hunton.

Three Suttons played Biddenden twice. Richard Robinson (2) and Paul Nichols earned them a 3- 0 win in game one, before Ali Simpson netted a hat-trick as they triumphed in the second match 6-3.

West Farleigh Reserves ran out 4- 0 winners at Headcorn. Rob Hibberd opened the scoring and Karim Habibi doubled Farleigh’s lead, before Matt Saunders netted twice.

Marden finished their season in style, thumping Walnut Tree 6-1. Skipper Gareth Brooks grabbed a hat-trick and Marden goalkeeper Mike Brown converted a penalty.

In Division 1, Sutton Saints sprang a surprise when they beat Lenham Reserves 4-1.

Leybourne Athletic hosted Phoenix in Division 2 and they emerged 4-2 winners.
